# Connect other MCP apps to SuperEbook

Use SuperEbook’s MCP server from any app that can add a remote MCP server: create an API key, add the config, and get the protocol details developers need.

Any app that can add a remote MCP server and send a header, with an API key. The technical details are here too.

## Before you start

- **A SuperEbook account with Starter, Pro or any credit pack.** SuperEbook’s Free plan doesn’t include connecting apps: [see plans](https://www.superebook.ai/pricing.md).

## Set it up

Create an API key in Settings → Connect apps, then add https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp to the app's MCP settings with the header `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY`.

## The config

Most apps that take a remote MCP server read JSON like this, with your API key in the header: ```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "superebook": {
      "url": "https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
```
## For developers
- Transport: Streamable HTTP, JSON responses, at `https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp`.
- Protocol versions: 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26.
- Sign-in: OAuth 2.1 (scope `books`; access tokens last 1 hour, a connection unused for 30 days has to sign in again), or an API key starting `ebk_live_` sent as `Authorization: Bearer <key>`.
## Server URL
`https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp`
Use it exactly as shown, with www.
## What your app can do
- `get_account` (Account and prices): Your plan, your credit balance, what each format costs to write and how much apps can still start today.
- `list_books` (List books): Your books, the most recently changed first, each with its stage: draft, planning, planned, writing, ready or failed.
- `create_book` (Create a book): Starts a book from your idea and any notes you paste, and plans it for free: title ideas, a short brief and the chapters.
- `plan_book` (Plan again): Plans a book again: all of it, the titles only or the chapters only. Free, up to 15 plans a day and 5 for any one book.
- `get_plan` (Show the plan): The title, the brief and the chapters, with the price to write the book and your balance.
- `edit_plan` (Edit the plan): Changes the title, subtitle, brief or chapters before a word is written.
- `start_writing` (Write the book): Writes the book once you’ve agreed to its price. The only tool that spends credits.
- `get_progress` (Check progress): How far writing has got: the step it’s on, the chapters done and roughly how long is left.
- `get_download_links` (Get download links): PDF, EPUB and DOCX links for a finished book, plus its cover, each working for 15 minutes.
## Credits
Planning is free. Writing costs the same credits as in SuperEbook: Lead Magnet 25, Research Report 30, How-To Guide 35, Interactive Workbook 35, Course Companion 45. Web research adds 5.
## Limits for connected apps
- Books apps can start writing: 5 books, or 150 credits’ worth, in any 24 hours.
- Drafts apps can create: 20 a day.
- Notes you paste: 100,000 characters a book; add longer files in SuperEbook itself.
- Plans: 15 a day, and 5 for any one book: SuperEbook’s own limit.
- Requests: 60 a minute for each connection, 600 an hour for your account.
- Download links: 60 an hour; each link works for 15 minutes.
- API keys: 5 at a time, and 10 new ones an hour.
- Connected apps: 20 at a time; connecting one more disconnects the oldest.
## If it doesn’t work
| What you see | Code | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 401 Unauthorized |  | The key is missing, mistyped or revoked. Send it whole, as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. |
| 403, “Requests from this origin aren’t allowed.” |  | A web page on another site can’t call the server from the browser. Call it from a server-side client, which sends no Origin header. |
| 429 Too Many Requests | `RATE_LIMITED` | Wait as long as it says: Retry-After on a 429, retryAfterSeconds on a refused tool call. A connection can make 60 requests a minute, and an account 600 an hour. |
| The app can’t connect at all |  | It has to speak Streamable HTTP. An app that only knows the older SSE transport can’t connect: the server answers every request in plain JSON. |
| The tools don’t appear |  | Reload or restart the app so it reads its MCP settings again. |
For credits, limits and the other messages an app may relay, see [if something goes wrong](https://www.superebook.ai/mcp#troubleshooting).
## Questions
**Is there a REST API?** No. The MCP server is how apps reach your SuperEbook account: any MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP can call it with an API key.
**Which apps work?** Any app that can add a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP and send a header. The apps with guides of their own are listed above; the server itself is checked against the official MCP SDK’s own client. If your app can’t connect, write to support@superebook.ai.
**Do API keys expire?** No. A key works until you revoke it in Settings → Connect apps, and stops working the moment you do.
**Can an app see my name or email address?** No. No tool returns them. An app sees the plan you’re on, your credit balance and the prices, and your books: their titles, the idea each one started from, their plans and progress.
