Large trim Defined.
Definition
Large trim is KDP's class for print books wider than 6.12 in or taller than 9 in. Large-trim books cost more to print than regular ones: on Amazon.com a black-ink large-trim paperback of 24 to 110 pages costs $2.84 to print, against $2.30 for a regular trim.

How it works
The class depends only on the two measurements. A 6 x 9 inch book sits exactly on the line and is regular; anything beyond it in either direction is large. Above the flat band, both classes pay a fixed $1.00 plus a per-page charge, $0.012 a page for regular trim and $0.017 for large, so the gap widens as the book gets longer. Because KDP takes printing cost out of the royalty, a large trim pays less per copy at the same list price and needs a higher minimum price.
An example
Take a 200-page black-ink paperback listed at $14.99 on Amazon.com. In a regular trim it costs $3.40 to print and pays $5.59 a copy; in a large trim it costs $4.40 and pays $4.59. Same book, same price, $1.00 less a copy, only because the page is larger.
Common mistakes
Choosing 6.14 x 9.21 inches as "about the same as 6 x 9": it is just over the width line, so KDP lists it among the large trims. Picking a large trim for a text-only book that would read as well in a regular one. And reusing a price from a regular-trim edition without recalculating the royalty for the larger page.
