Add SuperEbook to ChatGPT. On the web, signed in once.
Add SuperEbook to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server and ChatGPT can plan and write books in your SuperEbook account from a chat: say what the book is about, shape the free plan, then agree to the price before it writes.
You add it once, on ChatGPT on the web, and sign in to SuperEbook. ChatGPT can’t send an API key, so there’s none to copy. A ChatGPT dot uses the same plugin: see use it with your dot.
Server URL
https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcpPaste it exactly as it is, with www.
Before you start
- A SuperEbook account with Starter, Pro or any credit pack. SuperEbook’s Free plan doesn’t include connecting apps: see plans.
- Your plan. OpenAI’s help center says custom MCP servers with full MCP support are for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu, on ChatGPT on the web, and doesn’t list Plus or Free. Full support is what SuperEbook needs to create, plan and write books.
- Your role. On Business, only admins and owners can add a server. On Enterprise and Edu, admins and owners can, and so can members given the Create plugins with MCPs permission (Workspace settings → Permissions & roles).
- Pro is read-only. OpenAI lets Pro connect custom MCP servers with read/fetch permissions only. For SuperEbook that likely means ChatGPT can use just its read-only tools (Account and prices, List books, Show the plan and Check progress): it can check your credits and your books, but not create, plan or write one, or get its download links.
- A computer. OpenAI says custom MCP servers can’t be connected on mobile: add it on ChatGPT on the web.
Add it in ChatGPT
Open Plugins in ChatGPT on the web.
It’s in the sidebar. You don’t need to turn on Developer Mode first.
Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
Name it SuperEbook and enter the server URL.
Under Connection, enter
https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp, with www. Don’t choose Tunnel, which is for private servers. A description is optional.Choose OAuth for authentication.
Don’t choose No authentication: SuperEbook refuses a request that isn’t signed in. Leave any client ID or secret empty, and ChatGPT registers itself with SuperEbook, because SuperEbook doesn’t offer a client metadata document.
Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
Review the tools ChatGPT found: SuperEbook has nine.
Install the plugin, then start a new conversation.
Type @ in the prompt box and select SuperEbook.
Sign in to SuperEbook when its page opens.
ChatGPT opens SuperEbook’s page to connect, while you set the plugin up or when you first use it. Sign in with an account whose email address is verified.
SuperEbook’s page asks “Connect an app at chatgpt.com?” and warns that chatgpt.com isn’t a Claude address: SuperEbook trusts only Claude’s own addresses and your computer, so every other app gets this warning. If you started connecting from ChatGPT yourself, tick “I started connecting from chatgpt.com myself.” and choose Allow.
The page names ChatGPT in its list of what the app will be able to do, but keeps the warning: another app could claim ChatGPT’s address, and only you know you started this from ChatGPT.
ChatGPT has no config file: these are the form’s values.
Name: SuperEbook Server URL: https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp Authentication: OAuth (no client ID or secret)
Not yet tested with ChatGPT. These are OpenAI’s steps, and SuperEbook should work with them, but nobody has connected it from ChatGPT yet. If a step goes differently, tell us.
Use it with your dot
ChatGPT dots are always-on agents inside ChatGPT, each with a cloud computer of its own. A dot has no MCP settings of its own: it uses the plugins installed in your ChatGPT account. So you add SuperEbook as a plugin, as above, and then ask your dot.
- A plan with dots. OpenAI offers dots on Pro (100, 200 and 500), for users over 18 outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland; on Business Premium; and on Enterprise, once a workspace admin turns them on.
- The right to add a server. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, adding a custom MCP server takes the Create plugins with MCPs permission, which is off by default: ask a workspace owner or admin.
- Writing needs full MCP. A dot can do what the plugin can. On Pro, custom MCP servers are read-only, so a Pro dot can likely check your credits and books, but not write one.
Add SuperEbook to ChatGPT first.
Follow the steps above on ChatGPT on the web: Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server, the server URL with www, OAuth, then sign in to SuperEbook and choose Allow. Dots have no separate MCP screen.
ChatGPT can’t send API keys, so a SuperEbook API key doesn’t work for a dot either.
Open your dot.
In the ChatGPT mobile app, the desktop app or a desktop browser. Mobile web isn’t supported.
Ask it to use SuperEbook.
For example, ask it to list your SuperEbook books. Planning is free, and it’s told to quote the price and wait for your yes before it writes.
Not yet tested with a dot. OpenAI says a dot uses the plugins installed and enabled for your account, but nobody has used SuperEbook from a dot yet. If it goes differently, tell us.
What ChatGPT asks before it acts
ChatGPT asks before using any tool that can change something, and shows what it will send. For SuperEbook that’s creating a book, planning it again, editing the plan, writing it and getting its download links. The tools that only read (Account and prices, List books, Show the plan and Check progress) are marked read-only, so ChatGPT doesn’t count them as actions to confirm.
ChatGPT can remember your yes for the rest of a conversation, and a new conversation asks again. Don’t let it remember a yes for Write the book: that prompt is your check that you agreed to the price. Whatever it remembers, apps can start at most 5 books, or 150 credits’ worth, in any 24 hours.
When SuperEbook’s tools change
To switch single tools on or off, open the plugin’s details page in ChatGPT’s settings. If SuperEbook adds a tool, open the connection in Plugins and select Refresh.
On Business and Enterprise, ChatGPT keeps the tools an admin approved. An admin refreshes them from the workspace’s app settings: on Enterprise and Edu, Workspace settings → Apps → ••• → Refresh. New actions start switched off.
Disconnecting
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins, select SuperEbook, and choose Disconnect from its Connection or ••• menu. In SuperEbook, Settings → Connect apps lists ChatGPT with your other connected apps, and disconnecting it there stops it at once.
Try it
Once it’s connected, ask for a book in plain words. Planning is free, and the app is told to quote the price and wait for your yes before it writes.
- “Turn what we just talked about into a lead magnet with SuperEbook. Show me the chapters first.”
- “Plan a how-to guide on onboarding remote hires, for small agency owners.”
- “How many SuperEbook credits do I have, and what would a workbook cost?”
- “Is my book written yet? Send me the download links when it’s ready.”
If it doesn’t work
- There’s no Add custom MCP server
- Your plan or role may not allow it: full MCP is for Business and Enterprise/Edu, where admins and owners add servers, and members need the Create plugins with MCPs permission. It isn’t offered on mobile either.
- ChatGPT can read your books but can’t make one
- On Pro, custom MCP servers get read/fetch permissions only. Creating, planning and writing a book needs a Business or Enterprise/Edu workspace.
- SuperEbook’s page says “This link doesn’t work”
- ChatGPT asked to connect as an app SuperEbook doesn’t know, as it does when a client ID was filled in. Remove the plugin, add it again with OAuth and no client ID or secret, and connect again.
- Your dot can’t use SuperEbook
- Check that the plugin is installed on ChatGPT on the web, connected to the right account and allowed the action, and reconnect it if the connection has expired. Your plan must have dots, too.
- You chose Cancel, and SuperEbook’s page says “Cancelled. You can close this tab.”
- ChatGPT isn’t told you cancelled: SuperEbook sends answers back only to Claude and to apps on your own computer. Close the tab and start connecting again from ChatGPT.
- New SuperEbook tools don’t show up
- Open the connection in Plugins and select Refresh. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin refreshes it from the workspace’s app settings.
For credits, limits and the other messages an app may relay, see if something goes wrong.
