Add SuperEbook to Perplexity. A custom connector, signed in once.

Add SuperEbook to Perplexity as a custom remote connector and Perplexity can plan and write books in your SuperEbook account. You set it up on perplexity.ai in your browser and sign in to SuperEbook once; there’s no key to copy.

Server URL

https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp

Paste it exactly as it is, with www.

Perplexity connects to SuperEbook over MCP by signing in.

Before you start

  • A SuperEbook account with Starter, Pro or any credit pack. SuperEbook’s Free plan doesn’t include connecting apps: see plans.
  • Your plan. Perplexity names Pro, Max and Enterprise for custom connectors, and doesn’t mention Free.
  • On Enterprise, an admin first turns on Allow members to add custom connectors (Enterprise settings → Connectors → Connector permissions; it’s off by default), or adds the connector for the whole organization.
  • A browser. Perplexity describes adding custom connectors on perplexity.ai, and says a connector can be on the web but not yet on mobile, or the other way round.

Add it in Perplexity

  1. Open perplexity.ai, sign in and choose Plugins in the sidebar.

If you don’t see Plugins yet, open Customize → Connectors. Plugins are reaching individual plans and Self-Serve Enterprise first.

  2. Choose Add custom → Connector → Add MCP connector, then select Remote.

  3. Name it SuperEbook and enter the server URL.

MCP Server URL: https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp, exactly, with www.

  4. Set Transport to Streamable HTTP.

SuperEbook speaks Streamable HTTP only, not SSE.

  5. Set Authentication to OAuth, and leave Client ID and Client Secret empty.

Perplexity then registers itself with SuperEbook.

  6. Tick the box saying you understand the risks of custom connectors, then choose Add.

  7. Select the SuperEbook card to connect.

Sign in to SuperEbook if it asks. SuperEbook’s page asks “Connect an app at www.perplexity.ai?” and warns that www.perplexity.ai isn’t a Claude address: SuperEbook trusts only Claude’s own addresses and your computer, so every other app gets this warning. If you started connecting from Perplexity yourself, tick “I started connecting from www.perplexity.ai myself.” and choose Allow.

Perplexity has no config file: these are the form’s values.

Name: SuperEbook
MCP Server URL: https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP
Authentication: OAuth (Client ID and Client Secret empty)

Not yet tested with Perplexity. These are Perplexity’s steps, and SuperEbook should work with them, but nobody has connected it from Perplexity yet. If a step goes differently, tell us.

For a whole Enterprise organization

  1. An admin adds it in Enterprise settings.

Enterprise settings → Permissions → Connectors permissions, then + Custom connector at the top right. Fill in the same form as above.

  2. Choose per-member authentication.

Perplexity lets an admin authenticate once for the whole organization, or each member individually. Choose each member: one sign-in for everyone would have every member write with the admin’s SuperEbook account and credits.

  3. Share it from the Permissions screen.

It may take a while to reach members. Each one selects the card and signs in to their own SuperEbook account. On an Enterprise address, SuperEbook’s page names enterprise.perplexity.ai instead.

Reconnect, edit or remove

  • To edit or remove it, use the ⋮ menu on its card.
  • If it stops working, or SuperEbook’s new tools don’t show up, open Plugins → Installed (or Customize → Connectors), choose Disconnect, wait a few seconds and choose Connect.
  • To end the connection on SuperEbook’s side, disconnect Perplexity in Settings → Connect apps.

Perplexity documents switching a connector on under Sources for its local connectors on the Mac. If SuperEbook’s tools don’t show up in a search, look there.

Try it

Once it’s connected, ask for a book in plain words. Planning is free, and the app is told to quote the price and wait for your yes before it writes.

  • “Plan a SuperEbook how-to guide from what you just found on home composting.”
  • “Use SuperEbook to turn this thread into a lead magnet for my newsletter.”
  • “What does a research report cost in SuperEbook credits?”
  • “Is my book finished? I’d like the PDF and EPUB links.”

If it doesn’t work

There’s no Add custom, or no Connector option
Check your plan: Perplexity names Pro, Max and Enterprise. On Enterprise, an admin must allow members to add custom connectors. If Plugins isn’t in your sidebar yet, use Customize → Connectors.
Perplexity shows an error when you add it
Perplexity checks the server when you save it. Check the URL is exactly https://www.superebook.ai/api/mcp, with www, that Transport is Streamable HTTP, and that Authentication is OAuth with no client ID or secret.
You chose Cancel, and SuperEbook’s page says “Cancelled. You can close this tab.”
Perplexity isn’t told you cancelled: SuperEbook sends answers back only to Claude and to apps on your own computer. Close the tab and start connecting again from Perplexity.
New SuperEbook tools don’t show up
Perplexity fetches the tool list when it connects: Disconnect, wait a few seconds, then Connect.

For credits, limits and the other messages an app may relay, see if something goes wrong.

More about connecting

Questions, answered plainly.

Pro, Max and Enterprise: Perplexity names those for custom connectors and doesn’t mention Free. On Enterprise, an admin either allows members to add custom connectors or adds SuperEbook for everyone.

Perplexity’s form has an API Key option, but Perplexity doesn’t say how it sends the key, and SuperEbook needs it as a Bearer header. We haven’t tested it, so choose OAuth.

SuperEbook fully trusts only Claude’s own addresses and your own computer, so every other app’s sign-in carries the warning. www.perplexity.ai is where Perplexity receives the sign-in, so tick the box only when you started connecting from Perplexity yourself.

No. Choose per-member authentication: with one sign-in for the organization, every member would write books with the admin’s SuperEbook account and credits.
